My Philosophy

Miss Olivia enjoying a day at Lake Elmo.
Just look at those magnificent eyes!
I prefer the simple, uncomplicated shot with minimal set up.  The way I choose to work and the way I do it best is by being both flexible and easily adaptable.  I try to shoot the more natural shot. Of course I could fight for a pose but I find the best pictures are the more relaxed pictures.  Most of the pictures I take will be of people just hanging out at the park, walking around downtown, throwing rocks in the river or soaking your toes in the lake.  I'm not trying to get the magazine style "Perfect Portrait" or the "Perfect Pose" and I'm also not after print sales. I focus more on shooting a compilation of amusing, warm-hearted, feel good images rather than one perfect shot of everyone looking and smiling at the camera at the exact and precise moment.

Years from now when your kids have grown and moved on and they are living their own lives I believe what you will want to remember is not the pose but the memories that came with the portraits that were created on that day.  These images will be a reminder of what life was like then.  This is my goal.

Please Note: Due to a busy family schedule I only book a limited number of sittings per month and I am usually booked out months in advance, especially in peak seasons. Please contact me much in advance of your desired shoot date.
